YOONHIE LEE is originally from Chuonju, a southern province in Korea. She attended Manhattan High School for a year while her college professor father took his sabbatical leave at K-State. While Yoonhie started her college career as a physics major at Ewha Womans University in Korea, she then decided to study abroad. Her previous time in Manhattan, along with her talents and interests in both science and art, informed her that studying architecture at K-State would be a logical choice. In fact, Yoonhie achieved the rare feat of completing both the Bachelor of Architecture and the Bachelor of Interior Architecture from K-State in 1996.

During her K-State studies, Yoonhie participated in the college's Study Abroad Program at Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy. She also undertook an internship with Charles McAfee FAIA, PA, working on the summer Olympic Games project; received a Russell Series Academic Achievement/Leadership Scholarship; participated in the college's annual student delineation competition and exhibition; and was awarded the Heintzelman Prize for Design Excellence as having the best thesis design project in her architecture graduating class.

The following summer, Yoonhie studied at the Ecole Des Beaux-Arts in Fontainebleau, France. She then attended Yale University's School of Architecture, receiving a Master of Architecture in 1998.

As senior project designer for the Bennett Lowry Corporation of New York from 1998-2000, Yoonhie was responsible for the preliminary design development and presentation for a new showroom and offices for the Victor Studio, was project architect for the construction phase of a showroom and workstation fixture project for the Tse Showroom and Offices, and developed design proposals for a showroom and fixtures for a Josie Natori Showroom. She has also undertaken a number of independent projects in collaboration with Anna Hong Design.

From 2000-2003, Yoonhie returned to K-State to teach architecture courses including first- and third-year studios, Building Construction and Structures in Architecture II, and Contemporary Architecture Design Theory. She has also been a guest critic at the University of Kansas and the University of Arkansas.

Yoonhie is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Architecture at Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea. As a member of the Ewha Campus Center project management team, she has coordinated that project with Dominique Perrault Architecture since 2003. Yoonhie frequently participates in independent projects, serves as a critic and juror for architectural competitions, is a member of the Architectural Institute of Korea and serves as a committee member of the architectural division of the Seoul City Council.
