GLEN A. MILLER was recognized by the faculty early in his academic career as a very dedicated and talented designer. Originally from Dodge City, Kansas, Miller is remembered as a student who was focused, organized and punctual with his work--work which always went above and beyond ordinary solutions and always brought a higher level of thinking into play. The exceptional quality of his work was recognized with a first-place award in the 1986 IBD Student Design Competition. Following receipt of the Bachelor of Interior Architecture degree, Miller was employed as an interior architect by CDFM2 of Kansas City, Missouri. The attributes Miller displayed as a student contributed to steady, rapid advancement at the firm, where he was named Vice President in 1994. Miller and the firm share a focus on striving for creativity in addressing issues found in corporate and government office environments. His current responsibilities include project management and coordination for interiors and facility management projects, programming, space analysis, planning and interior design. Technology has also played a vital role in his development including AutoCAD, word processing and spreadsheet applications and expertise with Computer Integrated Facility Management (CIFM) systems. Among the projects on which he has worked at CDFM2 are space planning, construction document preparation and design build coordination for Kroh Brothers Realty, Chalfant and Associates, and Romar Company offices in Kansas City, Missouri; space analysis, site evaluation, furniture and finish selection, bidding, negotiation and construction observation for the National Collegiate Athletic Association offices in Overland Park, Kansas; and strategic facility analysis and benchmarking studies for Employers Reinsurance Corporation, also of Overland Park. Miller was recently named co-chair of the Department of Interior Architecture Professional Advisory Board, and he is a member of the International Facility Management Association and the International Interior Design Association. He and his wife Karen have a three-year old daughter. |
