Dear Students,

Susan Haug
Susan Haug Lannou, Director of Student Recruitment

Thank you for your interest in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design (CAPD). I am the Director of Student Recruitment for CAPD.  Admission to CAPD for fall 2008 is closed. The deadline for application to CAPD for fall 2009 is PRIOR to February 1, 2009. To learn more about our application process and admission requirements click here. Please feel free to contact me with questions.

CAPD offers four five-year accredited degrees: the Master of Architecture, the Master of Interior Architecture and Product Design, the Master of Landscape Architecture, and the Master of Regional and Community Planning. All four degrees will lead to the respective professional licensing or certification in the states that require such exams.

If you seek a degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture and Product Design or Landscape Architecture, your first year in the CAPD is spent in the Environmental Design Studies Program (ENVD). You will learn about design principles, design process, the craft of model building, drafting and drawing. A tip for success in our college is to start drawing. Try to practice free hand sketching for 20 minutes a day. Your projects in studio will introduce you to the three design professions. You will declare your major as Architecture, Interior Architecture and Product Design, or Landscape Architecture as a second year student. Please click here to see curriculum guides for each degree. The guides will show you the classes you will take to complete your degree. You may also want to click here to find out which classes you can take for college credit before arriving at K-State.

If you seek a degree in Regional and Community Planning, you can apply by filling out an application that is available in Seaton Hall Room 212. This degree program is available to students who have completed at least one year of college coursework (completion of ENVD is applicable). The application deadline is February 1, 2009 if you wish to start in the Masters of Regional and Community Planning degree program in fall 2009.

We are very proud that all three design programs are currently ranked among the top ten in the nation. In a poll administered by Design Intelligence, Landscape Architecture is ranked first, Interior Architecture is ranked eighth, and Architecture is ranked eighth.

I encourage you to schedule a campus visit . The best time to visit our college is on Monday, Wednesday or Friday during the academic year. Our current students tell us that their campus visit was the most important component of their college search.

If you would like to request further information, please fill out our information request form. You can email me at archdesstuserv@ksu.edu or call me at 785.532.1994.

Thank you again for your interest in our college. Please let me know if I can help you with your academic plans!

Sincerely,

Susan Haug Lannou
